Our philosophy always comes back to ... how can we better celebrate place.... we ask ourselves, ‘how can we best fully express this amazing site...’

Mirus Vineyards is located on the Western Ridge, sub-region of the Barossa Valley, renowned for its distinctive reds, its ancient soils and slightly warmer and windier conditions. With 21 blocks across 30 acres, Mirus is a story of varying varieties, age, clone, soil type and micro-climate.

From the first visit, Viticulturalists Luke Edwards and Nick Radford recognised the vineyards potential. Between an ancient sand hill and ironstone conglomerate ridge, 30 acres of vines wind their way from the east to west across the top of the property, before descending into the Marananga and Seppeltsfield valleys.

The site’s old, gnarly, dry-grown bush vine Grenache, the rounded quartz river pebbles on the ridge and the underlying red clays were clear indicators of its exceptional promise.

Nick and Luke have selected distinctive blocks showcasing these aspects.

Exploring, Grenache and Shiraz, our Mirus wines are sourced from select rows across single blocks of the estate. Our goal is to allow the true nature of the fruit to really reveal itself in the winemaking process. As we understand more about the nature of how each block responds to the seasons, we conversely respond with tailoring winemaking practices to enhance the viticulture.

The Labels

To fully express the Mirus range and capture the unique growing conditions of each wine we immersed paper in the soils of each block where the fruit is sourced across the vineyard. The soil, leaf matter and grasses, under the weight of rocks, created a print for the label that truly reflects the unique profile of each wine, the soil and conditions in which it is grown.
